for awhile now i've been meaning to write up a journal about how i feel about furries and people who draw anthro stuff. LET ME JUST GET THIS OUT OF THE WAY:

i don't have a problem with furries, for the most part. i LOVE cute little quad arts, and there are a few anthro artists that i fucking idolize. i feel awful when i draw up a quad and think about posting it or showing my friends, though, because god forbid they assume it means that i'm a
furry. let's take a look at what my friends' definition of 'furry' is:
;someone who wants to buttfuck // be buttfucked by someone dressed as an animal // a real, unconsenting animal.
;someone old, creepy, and gay.
;someone who does not deserve respect because he or she whines constantly about his or her sexual fetish not being publicly appreciated.
;someone who draws disturbing sexual images of animals and animals or animals and people.
it's like anything else ever, though; those generalizations are overly-specific and attach a stigma to a fandom or fetish. people like weird shit, and some assholes like to talk about it like their sexual fetish should be
publicly accepted-- this is why people that walk the streets in fursuits will never be accepted; sexuality is something private, something you talk about or whatever
at home or out of the public eye. people don't go out in public wearing bondage gear if they want public approval because it just doesn't make sense. THAT is the kind of furry that i don't like-- that's the kind if
person i cannot respect.
lastly, the pornographic side... it's like any kind of porn. some people like weird stuff, and i guarantee you that your likes aren't limited to regular old hetero porn or hentai. just because you haven't seen something you like or don't admit it doesn't mean that your taste is isolated to the publicly accepted standard. baaasically, hypocrites and whatever.
i have no interest in drawing anthro, but i actually have a LOT of fun drawing quads. it just worries me that my friends would probably lynch me if i drew a quad and then a "human" counterpart-- because clearly that means i want to rape animals and dress my boyfriend up in a fursuit and rape him too. :/
